Surya Chowki / Namkaran Chowki
This is created after the naming ceremony when the newborn child is brought out into the sunlight. Additionally, it is also made on Sundays in the month of Paush for the Surya Vrat (sun fast). It includes depictions of the moon, sun, Shukra (Vishnu-Lakshmi), Ath Jal (eight-cornered yantra), conch shell, bell, kundiya or chakraasan, aarti, gadua (spouted pot), incense burner, and then an asan (seat) is prepared.
Using the traditional folk art method of Uttarakhand, a cotton cloth was coated with cow dung and cow urine, then coated with ochre clay, and the resulting paste (viswar) was used to apply the appliqué.
